Teacher Appreciation Week
National Teacher Appreciation Week is recognized every year in the month of May. As defined by the dictionary, a teacher or to teach “is a person who imparts knowledge or skill through instruction”. However, we at FasTracKids know that a teacher is much more.
A teacher also has to be a mentor, actor, a motivational speaker, a care-giver, a disciplinarian, a confidant, and a coach just to name a few. What makes a great teacher is being able to play these roles along with having an open heart and a steady hand of patience.
Studies show that student motivation and attitudes towards school are closely linked to student-teacher relationships and their enthusiasm. When a teacher displays enthusiasm about teaching students and the subject matter, it creates a spark with their students and learning is then cleverly disguised as fun!
“The most important quality to find in a teacher is empathy. Having a teacher that can connect with a student has more value than any information they can glean from books.”
Dee McDonald, VP of Curriculum at FasTracKids
“I value a teacher that is passionate and genuinely interested in what they do and teach!”
Jessica Wentworth, FasTracKids owner and teacher
So please recognize those teachers guiding our children academically, emotionally and ethically while creating the leaders of tomorrow.
